The Baumberger Endowment was established in the
Last Will and Testament of Charles Baumberger, Jr.
He was a lifetime resident of San Antonio and a
former President of the Board of San
Antonio Portland
Cement Company. His father was
one of the founders
of San Antonio Portland Cement Company and
one of the organizers of Bexar County National Bank.
Charles Baumberger, Jr. and his wife, Gene, had no children.
After providing for his wife during her lifetime,
Mr. Baumberger stipulated in his Will that the income
from his fortune be devoted to the education in the
basic arts and sciences of Texas youth. The Endowment
is guided by specific requirements stated in Mr. Baumberger's
Will and by policies set by the Trustees of the Endowment.
